SIMO RIPATTI
Visual Artist
- ABOUT
Simo Ripatti (b.1975) is a visual artist who graduated as a visual artist from Lahti University of Applied Sciences in 2009 and as a Master of fine arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2011. In his production, he aims to direct attention to the significance of space, work, perception and its temporality as builders of experience. The expression is quite stripped down, quiet and sparse, and the effect of the works is often based on subtlety and partly surprise. Although the work is inevitably a description presented by the mind and, for example, distancing it to a mere shadow emphasizes the conceptual idea of the work, the goal is to have as direct a relationship to reality as possible. There is a lot of symbolism associated with everyday actions, it highlights the irreplaceable importance of memories in human life.
”Life is full of emotional feelings that are difficult to verbalize, and it is also difficult to describe their intensity or impact. My aim is to describe these feelings by constructing a form for them, rationalizing them and making them subject to criticism with the help of aesthetic experience.”
